On a planned return from hiatus

As will have been evident to all, I have not updated this newsletter in some time. The holidays, and various non-newsletter writing projects got in the way. Paying subscribers will observe that you have not been charged for the entirety of this unscheduled hiatus; I will not turn payments back on until such time as I am able to return to regular posting (likely in the next month or so). Here, in the meantime, is a link to my review of a new biography of the crime writer James Ellroy in AirMail. It’s an old saw that writers don’t pick their headlines. I couldn’t have come up with a better one than this one, though.
